WARTBURG LUTHERAN SERVICES NAMES CARMEL, N.Y., RESIDENT ADMINISTRATOR OF POUGHKEEPSIE NURSING HOME

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Sept 20 -- Wartburg Lutheran Services (WLS), an organization that runs nine senior-care facilities in New York State, has named Gilbert Preira administrator of Lutheran Care Center at Concord Village here.

The Carmel, N.Y., resident, will oversee all operations of the 160-bed nursing home and rehabilitation care center.

Preira comes to WLS from the Daughters of Jacob Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the Bronx, where he was executive director for more than 20 years. Earlier in his career he worked in administration for nursing homes in New York City and New Rochelle, N.Y.

He earned a master’s degree in human services/gerontology from the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N.Y., and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.

He holds a nursing home administrator license in both New York and New Jersey, and is certified by the American College of Healthcare Administrators, where he earned the designations of fellow and retirement housing professional. He was appointed by the New York State Commissioner of Health to the New York State Board of Nursing Home Examiners for a three-year term in 1979, and has also served as adjunct faculty member at the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N.Y.

He is an executive board member of the League of Voluntary Homes and Hospitals, an executive board member of the 1199/Management Training and Upgrading Funds, and a member of the Board of Trustees, New York Health Care Alliance, the New York State Association of Homes and Services to the Aged, and the American College of Health Care Administrators.
